It’s easy and affordable to create a breathtaking table setting using basic items from around the house and garden.
For this gorgeous checkerboard table setting, kitchen plates and utensils, as well as napkins and glasses were set on a checkerboard table cloth found in my linen cabinet.
Cuttings from my white rose bush, as well as white candles enhanced the warm atmosphere while slices of lime helped refresh the glasses of ice-water.
The Cupcake Rack, placed in a plastic terra-cotta flower pot and adorned with a white band and bow, as well as a few rose bush stems, is strategically placed on the table as a delicious dessert and centerpiece! As time is in short supply these days, I used boxed homemade lemon cupcakes which rest in the 19 rings of the cupcake rack and homemade vanilla buttercream frosting (recipe is included at the bottom of the page) with the zest of one lime piped into flower designs compliments the yummy lemon cupcakes.
The white napkins are folded into a cone shape and tied with a white ribbon bow. A single white rose sits atop the folded napkin adding a touch of elegance to the country setting of the checkerboard tablecloth.
With green, inside and outside, as the theme color today, a slice of lime in each glass bring together the table setting, as well as the delicious, refreshing taste of the lemon cupcakes with a hint of lime flavored buttercream. Yum.
Frosting Recipe:
2 Sticks Butter – creamed
4 Cups Powered Sugar
2-4 Tablespoons Milk (add a little more if the frosting is too thick)
1 tsp. Vanilla
Zest and juice of 1 Lime
Mix all ingredients together until creamy. Place frosting into a pastry bag tipped with an open star piping tip.
Begin in the center of the cupcake and pipe in a circular motion until the cupcake is covered with frosting. Your cupcakes will then will resemble a flower!
Enjoy every meal with family and friends by taking a little extra time to enhance your table setting!
